8/21/23 Post evening Post

Just a brief update tonight. We are exhausted.

Our Doctor/Nurse team was able to place the tube in Justin's not-surgery nostril with the tube to his stomach, under sedation and with probably scope guidance. This will allow them to administer the much needed sodium! They will also potentially start to feed him at some point. 

His night nurse is on top of monitoring his vitals, flushed his nose for healing from surgery, and regularly bothering him checking him neurologically and managing his pain. His fever is down finally. 

Praying for a good update in the morning!!!! 

P.S. thank you for all the texts, messages, posts, etc. please forgive not answering all, any typos, i'm kinda fanatic about that usually, and anything that doesn't make sense. Steve, Jovi and I are so FREAKING grateful for all of you!

    Justin, since I helped cared for you as a newborn, I think of you as Justin David. You remind me of King David with your passion, intensity, and zeal for life. You are a man after God’s own heart.

    These verses came to mind as I pray for you today.
    I waited patiently for the Lord; He turned to me and heard my cry. He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; He set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand. He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear the Lord and put their trust in Him.

    Father, hold our brothers and sisters up. Give them strength, perseverance and power. Draw them close so that they will know your presence. I pray Justin will know your complete healing and his medical team would see your great power. Continue to give the medical team wisdom, answers and solutions. We ask that Justin’s body would receive all the nutrients he needs giving him strength. We lean into you for all that we ask. Amen

    Thank you so much for sharing these updates. I’m sorry for what your family is going through. He is in the absolute best care! PCMC is the best place for him to be. There are angels that work and volunteer there, angels who look after our children, angels that do what we can’t as parents for our children.
    Joaquin’s sister has been in and out of there this year for her cancer treatment and every visit we have seen how much care and dedication these people have towards taking care of our children. They are amazing!
    We are praying for all who are caring for Justin and for Justin to have the strength he needs to carry your family out of this tough time.

well hello there, remember me? let's just get straight to it, shall we? it has been 1 year today since Justin's life saving craniotomy. it's hard to believe, as time is a fickle and funny beast. it ebbs & flows, fast & slow, yet constant & unrelenting. recap of that crazy week: head cold. soccer game. no soccer. a week of headaches. dr visit "oh, it's his stomach". another dr visit, "take him to the ER to get fluids but no it's not meningitis" (implied "are you stupid?"). next day ER and thankfully a shift change that brought the dr God intended. thus the lumbar puncture, CT, and transfer to Primary hospital for MRI and 2 surgeries. you know the rest.  the miracle of God saving Justin's life. the heartfelt prayers from around the world. the extreme hard work he put into his speedy recovery. a little bit of Bob Ross (that is another story for another time). after getting out of the hospital for the 2nd time, so many thing...

Holidays 2023 written 12/31/23

We enjoyed a visit from Steve's mom for Thanksgiving, and also kept our 4 favorite dogs, yes all at the same time. Our own version of G.O.A.T. (left to right Riggs Theo Ivy Koa) We had an early snow, and Justin boarded on Snowbird opening day, then hopped a plane to Orlando. Unfortunately no more snow to speak of. Christmas was low-key, but we have ALL enjoyed the week off of work and school.  Someone asked if I'd be happy the year was over, implying hardship, difficulty, etc. We said, "Justin is alive, what is there to move on from?" By the grace of God we are still Four Fabulous Fahrenkrogs. This is a part of the bigger s tor y in his life, which is part of the unique role Justin has in the amazing story God is telling.
