Hospital post-midnight 8/19/23
August 19th continued
While we waited for the MRI that would show the surgical team what they were facing, and how to guide themselves, we met with the surgeons and prepared ourselves, as they prepared for the surgeries. I have to say, I am so impressed with the medical staff at Primary's, and the surgical team filled me with confidence. Even as I had a knot in the pit of my stomach thinking of what Justin would be going through, there was no option to but to do surgery. Please brace yourself for this part. He would have died without it.
The surgeon showed us the MRI before they went to surgery. It was cool, I liked how the eyeballs popped out, like a skeleton in a movie. :) The infection was pushing the left side of his brain to the right, and causing everything in the brain that is supposed to be perfectly symmetrical to be squashed and misaligned. No wonder he had a headache!
We went home to rest, I can't say I slept, while they did the surgery, then back to the hospital when he got to ICU.
Wow Kim, thank you for the details of the situation. What a miracle it is that the doctor decided to do a spinal tap and then a CT scan of the brain.
